okay, fine, then I'll list how you are mostly wrong, and trying to make an argument from fiction
Quote: - for good shield tanking, 4 slots are enough (apoc showed that very well before the CPR nerf), armor tanking ABSOLUTELY requires 5 slots as with only 2 hardeners, the lowest resistance would be 35%
Wrong, ,i can't believe you said that. Shields have lower base total resistance. SO, you fit 2 hardeners (assuming EM + therm) your lowest resistance is kinetic, 40%. a regular shield tank setup would be using 5 slots, not 4, stop trying to lie, the facts don't lie man. A well tanked shield will be with em, therm, kinetic, you are seeing alot more people using 2 hardeners these days BECAUSE of the shield nerf, not because it's better. people are basically sacrificing everything possible to get more midslot rechargers on scorp/raven so it can at least be half as tanked as before. I know I do. So, there we have 5 slots for typical armor setup and 5 slots for typical shield setup, NEXT.
Quote: - no named armor hardeners and high CPU needs of cap recharger II => CPU use close to shield-tanks but a lot more grid use as well
Gawd. shield tanking with an XL, ALOT of cpu, for the raven, required a LOT of named stuff to get a good setup, ask any pre-patch raven pilot. Scorpion only ship that could do it comfortably. oh and don't say you were comparing it to tanking with a large booster because that's a totally different matter, running a large booster indefinitely didn't take much. and it boosts no way near to 2 large repairers on auto
Quote: - you have only structure after armor (while after shields, you have armor AND structure left to warp out)
m8 it takes exactly the same amount of time to rip thru untanked shields as it does to get thru untanked armor, what is your point?
Quote: - they repair AFTER activation time is over, not immediately like shield boosters. thats about 12 seconds delay, that IS a lot
I will give you that as a disadvantage, but in most cases, isn't a huge one, certainly isn't a huge disadvantage in 1v1.
Quote: - the high amount of lowslots needed leaves no/hardly any space for ECCM, WCS, damage mods, RCUs, etc.
ffs, i just said, 5 slots for armor tank setup, 5 slots for shield tank setup, your comment is irrelevant.
Quote: - there is no XL armor rep
do you PvP?? have you read stats on any modules? god, you posted this drivvel because you said others were too lazy to search threads, man YOU are too lazy, on the run up to the last patch I saw many threads with the full set of calculations for cap/boost/time armor/shield tank comparison, you NEED to look them up before posting
Quote: - no auto-recharge (yes, get your shields down to 0% and let them recharge, you will see that they DO have quite some recharge without any cap use, especially when you have a few PDUs fitted)
going to enjoy pulling this sentence apart. see, thing is. and all PvP'ers (at least of reasonable competence) know that shield recharge rate makes a tiny (and do go re-defining tiny on my behalf, please) difference on the outcome of a battle. Oh, and if that difference still isn't too small for you, do not forget that when armor tanking CCP doesn't remove your shield bar, funnily enough, so you at least have the same recharge (but untanked) so call it 50% of the benefit compared to recharging tanked shields don't bring PDU into shield tanking equation either, EVERYONE knows that before the patch, a PDU could NEVER compare to a cap relay, never EVER, and any1 who says "use PDU you'll be sorry u ever fitted a CPR" is just foolish
Here is a situation for you: I was on chaos and some1 challenged me to raven 1v1, I agreed, we were both highly skilled (10mill+ skillpoints both) The time this took place was when cap relay had 10% boost penalty (but it was broken i.e. not working) and cap recharger II had been boosted to 20% (so cap relay was 20% and recharger II was 20%) and it was so balanced, this was perfect. Anyhoo, i was using shield-tanked raven (xl c5-l, amp, em, therm, kinet, recharger II. 5 cap relay, 6 siege arbalest, 2 heavy nosferatu) my opponent was using armor tanked raven (2 large armor rep II, explo, kinet, therm, 6 cap recharge II, 6 siege arb, 2 heavy neutralisers)
battle began and we sat there slugging torpedos for, must have been close to 30 minutes, and i only just got the better of him, he sat comfortably for the majority of the battle. I lost some armor at one point, but got shield back. the only reason i won is because nosferatu beat neutralisers in 1v1. this is what you call balance if you disagree with me you're wrong, thank you.
